The Knight Light
The
Knight
Light
The Danish Modern style of the knight's features is readily apparent
Incorporates stylized representations of medieval themes expressed in a classic 1950s Danish style. The bottom of the central column is supported by a portcullis that sits atop a downward-slanting drawbridge. The steel rods that form the outlines of various forms from the planks of the drawbridge to the grating of the portcullis are minimalist interpretations of objects and not definitive. In like manner the currents and eddies of steel that define the water of the moat flows around and underneath the drawbridge are also representational. The lamp’s central column is surrounded at the top by a circular tower surrounded with crenelated openings; though the representational structure might just as easily define a diadem. Three shades surmount the top of the lamp. The largest shade represents a knight peering from a castle tower. He wears a pointed Norman helmet with protective chain mail hanging from the side. The knight is flanked by two furled flags that hang atop the parapet from which he watches.
All shades are vertically adjustable. In addition, the banners swivel. The lamp's finish is powder coated in hammer tone silver over black.
This lamp is one of a number of one-of-a-kind original theme lamps.
